Courses at the Doctoral School

Formation en doctorat

The training of doctoral students is a complementary training to the research work

Of a minimum of 120 fixed hours spread over the entire duration of the thesis (there is no maximum), it is mandatory and is composed as follows :
  • 1/3 of training related to the field of the thesis, i.e. about 40 fixed hours. These training courses, managed by the Doctoral School, are chosen by the doctoral student and his/her thesis director. Each year, the Doctoral School offers the doctoral student a set of scientific training courses. Other training courses may be offered by the thesis partners to meet the individual needs of doctoral students.

  • 2/3 of the training courses are not related to the field of the thesis, i.e. about 80 hours:
    • 1/3 of transversal training (40 hours)
    • 1/3 of career-related training (40 hours)
These courses are offered by the Doctoral College of the University of Grenoble Alpes and its Department of Transversal Training and Professional Integration (DFTIP).

Doctoral students also have the possibility to follow external training courses if these are validated by their doctoral school.
