1 . Hold a French Master 2 degree , or French diploma conferring the degree of Master (Engineer degree) Foreign diploma of baccalaureate level + 5 years will be the subject of a request for exemption from the Doctoral School and will be examined during the monthly meetings of the Doctoral Exemptions and Derogations Commission (CD3) of the Doctoral College.

2 - Choose a thesis subject AND have the agreement of the thesis director and the laboratory management

Choose a subject from the list displayed on the site (https://www.adum.fr/as/ed/proposition.pl?lang=en&site=edstep). Contact the researcher proposing the topic, and obtain their agreement for the commitment to the thesis.

It is also possible to directly contact a researcher from a laboratory linked to the Doctoral School (https://edstep.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/l-ecole-doctorale/laboratoires/) whose research themes interest you and to prepare a more personalized subject together.

3 - Have guaranteed funding for the three years of study

The funding threshold for carrying out a thesis is a minimum wage (SMIC) over a period of 36 months. Any request for an extension beyond 36 months must be funded with the same threshold, until the submission of the thesis manuscript, marking the official start of the job search. Within the framework of a scientific partnership with the countries of the South (IRD funding), the same rules apply, with a minimum funding related to the minimum wage of each country and in proportion to the time spent in each country.

Whatever the mode of financing (acquired or hoped for), all candidates must compile with their thesis director a Single Application File to be sent to the secretariat of the Doctoral School.
